Eelmisel reedel pidasime koolis õpetajate päeva. 9. klassi ja mõned 8. klassi õpilased viisid läbi 3 lühendatud tundi. Millele järgnes tore aktus õpetajatele. Kui aktus oli peetud, said lapsed süüa ja koolibuss viis nad koju kell 11:30. Vanemad õpilased ja õpetajad said koos aja maha võtta ja muljetada päevast ning einestada pidulaua ümber, mille oli ettevalmistanud 9. klass. Suur aitäh toreda päeva eest, aitäh 9. klassile ja klassijuhatajale.

The “Teacher’s Day” celebrated in Estonia on October 5, was a new experience for me due to it being close to unknown in Germany. Sadly, because it’s a great thing to honour the teachers for the work they do, even if it’s often unnoticed (and the students have a shorter school day [win-win]). So, replacing the teachers with the older students for a few hours can show just how hard this job can be. I thought it a foreign concept but admirable nonetheless to have the whole school honour the teachers in a program and even with gifts. Not to mention the teachers making a fool out of themselves, showing that they indeed have a sense of humour and can laugh about themselves. Or the buffet you, as a teacher (or volunteer), can eat from until you fall over. Thanks for everyone involved.
